FACILITIES AND GROUNDS

Nuhaka School has a multi purpose school hall that is used for assemblies, wet weather activities, as a gymnasium, a forum for meetings, a theatre for visiting players, for overnight stays and community functions. The hall boasts 2 bathrooms and a kitchen facility. The Hall can be hired.

We also have extensive grounds with the school being set in a beautiful park amongst mature trees. There is an adventure playground, swimming pool, three netball courts, basketball hoop and fields with enough room for either three major sporting codes or to host the E.Z. Athletics. There is lots of shade.

Adjacent to the school is the magnificent Kahungunu Community Marae, this is the venue of our end of year presentations and prize-giving.

BEING SUN-WISE

The school grounds provide many shady spots in the adventure playground and under well established trees throughout the park.

Students must wear their uniform hat when they are outside.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

We encourage all families and whänau to ensure preschool children take part in an early childhood preschool education programme. At present in the Nuhaka village is a Kohanga Reo, and on the school site there is a Play-centre.

I.C.T and Learning

The school has a range of ICT equipment integrated into all classrooms with the Board of Trustees committed to keeping abreast with IT developments.

Our computer to student ratio is 1:3.

LIBRARY- INFORMATION CENTRE.

The school has a library with new books being acquired regularly.

Everyone is most welcome to use the library. A new library integrated with computers is being developed.

We are a Books in Homes “Duffy School.”

PHOTOCOPIER, FAX, LAMINATOR EMAIL AND BINDER SERVICES.

Nuhaka School makes available its IT equipment to the community for a nominal charge.

DENTAL SERVICES

The dental therapist is provided by School Dental Services free of charge to schoolchildren. The mobile surgery visits the school once a year. The base school for dental emergencies is the Wairoa Primary School.
